Informal Collaboration
1986- Cooperation with Dr. Hannu Saarenmaa, Finnish Forest Research Institute, Helsinki, Finland. This ongoing, informal cooperation has resulted in one peer-reviewed paper and a joint presentation in an international conference in Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Saarenmaa has hosted me as a visiting scientist in Helsinki for a short visit in 1988, and he has travelled to the US on several occasions.
1986 Hosted Dr. Huang Belu, of the People's Republic of China in my laboratory as a Visiting Scholar for one year. She studied computer applications relating to cotton and sorghum IPM.
1987 Hosted Dr. Lucas Schaub, of Switzerland, as a Postdoctoral Fellow in my laboratory at Texas A & M. Dr. Schaub worked on the integration of cotton simulation models and expert systems. He now works for the Swiss Agricultural Research Service in Nyon, SWITZERLAND
Hosted Dr. Mohamed El-Adl, Visiting Scholar from Egypt, for a brief visit to Virginia Tech in 1992 related to research in cotton on pink bollworm and mating disruption strategies in cotton.
1990-92 Hosted Dr. Rosalind Buick of New Zealand in my laboratory as a Research Associate for two years. She worked on knowledge-based systems as applied to field corn IPM and farm-level planning.
Major Professor, supervising Dr. José López-Collado for his Doctoral research at Virginia Tech through a fellowship from Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Technologia (CONACYT). Dr. López-Collado is now Assistant Professor at Colegio de Postgraduados, Campus Veracruz, MEXICO.
