Education

I have a Ph.D. (1994) in Computer Science from Virginia Tech where I concentrated on Artificial Intelligence, specifically Natural Language Generation. In 1976, I graduated with an M.S. in Computer Science. I combined both CS and EE courses and concentrated on systems software and computer architecture. At the time, there was no Computer Engineering degree at Virginia Tech, but I tailored my own.

In 1997, I moved to the centralized computing group for the college of agriculture which at the time included the ISIS lab. In fall of 1998, I began working full time in ISIS.

My tasks here at ISIS are varied. I do software design, project management, and Unix system administration. (See Projects).
